Michael Petroni will make his feature-directing debut with his original screenplay "'Till Human Voices Wake Us," which will star Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter.

The drama tells the story of a man (Pearce) who revisits where he grew up in rural Victoria, Australia. There he encounters the ghost of a woman he once knew (Bonham Carter).

David Redmond and Dean Murphy will produce the film through their Melbourne-based DND Prods. with Nigel Odell. Los Angeles-based Key Entertainment is also producing the picture and will handle international sales outside Australia and New Zealand through sales agent Tomorrow Films.

The film is financed by the Australian Film Finance Corp., Key, Film Victoria and the Globe Film Co., with the latter handling the title for New Zealand and Australia.

Petroni, who is repped by UTA and Andrew Deane at Gold/Miller, is adapting the Anne Rice title "Queen of the Damned" as well as "Revelations" for Village Roadshow and the Canton Co., both for Warner Bros., and "Miracles" at Disney-based Spyglass Entertainment.

Pearce is repped by ICM, while Bonham Carter is handled by UTA.
