Hip-hop oater 'Blazin' at HSI
Project eyed as starring vehicle for Kings of Comedy

HSI/Endangered Species Films has paid mid-six figures for the hip-hop Western spec "The Blazin' Four," written by Jean Claude LaMarre and Ernest Thomas. Project's being eyed as a potential starring vehicle for the Kings of Comedy, the comedy-touring team of Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mack. No director is attached.

Later this spring LaMarre will direct "Stoop" from his own script for HSI/Endangered. Thomas is best known as the star of the 1976-1979 TV series "What's Happening!!"
Adam Rosenfelt, Yoram Pelman and Stavros Merjos of HSI will exec produce "Blazin'," while Darryl Taja of Endangered Species and Jeff Klanagan and Stevie Lockett of Mega-Large will produce.

HSI recently completed shooting "The Third Wheel," a romantic comedy starring Luke Wilson, Denise Richards and Ben Affleck. Tomorrow Films will handle that film's international distribution; Miramax will handle the film domestically.

LaMarre is repped by Jeff Okin and Lexie Weiss at Metropolitan Talent Agency.
